ecothèque is a series of solar-powered gatherings charged by our creative community microgrid. We bring creatives, civic leaders, technologists, climate activists and more together in a collective effort to ditch fossil fuels & inspire regenerative practices.

    The last ecothèque took place in partnership with All Purpose Sauce Market, a monthly gathering of upcycled and vintage vendors and artisans curated by Tried & True, located at 660 S. Anderson St. in Arts District of Los Angeles.

    The event was powered by SOLARPUNKS’ creative community microgrid resources including batteries & inverters - all juiced by free, abundant energy provided by the sun!

    Note: Whether it’s for an underground rave, art installation or film shoot, photons & gear rentals are free for independent creatives.

    astrothebaptist returned with a solar-powered light art installation that taught attendees about the electromagnetic spectrum.

    Snitches got (solar-powered) stitches, courtesy of Mauvais Garçon. Guests were able to choose from special solarpunk designs by this beloved upcycled brand!

    UPCYCLED, VINTAGE & ARTISANAL PURVEYORS

    Attendees were able to discover beautifully crafted and curated creations from 30+ vendors including Tried & True, Mauvais Garcon, Asaka Fushimi, Buttery Pat, Search Studios, and Baby Shine Kids, Seulement Los Angeles, Masato, Chronodome, Nghbrhd Casestudy, Karpet Workshop, Shu and more!

    NATIVE SEED BUFFET

    TreePeople gifted seeds from a selection of native plants while educating attendees on the benefits of a native yard and garden. They’ve planted more than 3 million trees since 1973!

  • NATURAL DYE PAINTING

    Attendees were able to paint using natural dyes and a selection of varying water sources ranging from the L.A. River to spring water, courtesy of Solarpunk Park.

    The activation was in support of their Butterfly Garden Project at Radio Hill Gardens!

    Queer Punk Filipinx and James Brooks also blessed us with a live painting session!

  • URBAN MUSHROOM FARMING

    Smallhold, is a distributed network of organic certified urban mushroom farms in Brooklyn, Austin and Los Angeles. Smallhold gave out free mushroom substrate along with urban farming tips. Great for compost or grow your own mushrooms at home!

  • Solarpunks Production Club Renewable Energy Microgrid DERs Demo

    DISTRIBUTED ENERGY RESOURCES (DERs) DEMO

    We featured a DERs installation (designed by Production Club) to visually explain how we’re using our creative community microgrid to power the party with photons, and the power of decentralized renewable energy generation in moving us away from a petrol-industrial complex.

    SOLAR-POWERED DIY TRIKE

    Our friends from The Sun Trip are OG solarpunks who get around on DIY sun-powered trikes. They rolled by the event and parked one of their sweet rides to inspire others to think about their relationship with energy & mobility! They also debuted a model for their mobile solar trailer concept.

  • CLIMATE ACTION NON-PROFIT FAIR

    Guests learned about other groups like Climate Changemakers who are leading the charge in climate action, justice & advocacy and learned how they could participate.

  • AVOCADAMAMA WHITE LABEL CREAMERY SOLARPUNKS

    Guests indulged in delicious bites from avocadamama, Veggie Fam LA, and White Label Creamery!

    Complimentary beverages came courtesy of Stella Artois, Guayaki Yerba Mate, Red Bull, Onda Spiked Tequila Seltzer, Ever&Ever Water, aprch// CBD Seltzer and more! Guest donations went to supporting our friends Local Ocean Conservation with the development of their microgrid in Kenya.

    No single use plastics here, y’all. r.Cup donated a used cup program for the occasion!

    To further minimize waste, Compostable LA helped us compost leftover food.

    Our friends at Cotopaxi gave free fanny packs made from remnant fabrics in celebration of circular economies.

  • THE ODDFLOWER CO. LOUNGE & GIVEAWAY

    Gender-free brand The Oddflower Co. created a lounge for attendees to rest, hang and peruse threads. They also gave away a custom pair of upcycled Air Force 1’s made with real moss!
